For Joe and Maggie Oestereicher, building a business was never just about tile, stone, or cabinetry-it was about building something lasting, with heart. When union construction work in Colorado began to dry up in the late 1980s, Joe and Maggie decided to take a leap. Armed with Joe’s expert tile training and Maggie’s architectural education, the couple launched what would become one of the region’s most trusted names in remodeling: Heritage Kitchen & Bath.
Established in 1987 as Heritage Tile, focused solely on tile and stonework, has grown into a full-service luxury remodeling company-one that integrates thoughtful design, top-tier craftsmanship, and a uniquely personal touch. “Over the years, the types of projects we were getting naturally expanded,” Maggie explains. “So we rebranded to reflect who we had really become-a company that transforms kitchens and bathrooms from start to finish.”
Design That’s Personal-and Practical
At the heart of Heritage Kitchen & Bath’s success is a design philosophy that prioritizes how people actually live. “Form and function should serve each other,” says Maggie. “Our goal is always to create something beautiful, but also deeply useful-something that feels like it was made just for that client and how their family uses the space.” This balance is why Heritage specializes in kitchens: the emotional and functional core of most homes. “We love how a kitchen can bring a family together,” Maggie says. “It’s not just for cooking anymore- it’s where life happens.”

A Recent Project with Heart
One standout project involved a family whose home was lost in the Marshall Fire in 2001. Rather than rebuild, they purchased an existing home on the Coal Creek golf course and brought Heritage in to completely rethink and remodel the kitchen and mudroom. “It was such an emotional journey for them,” Maggie shares. “They were upbeat, full of hope- they just wanted to create a home again.” Heritage completely transformed a dated 1980s kitchen and oversized pantry into an open-concept space made for gathering, hosting, and healing. “Being able to help them start over, and create something joyful after such loss-that’s why we dowhat we do.”
The Heritage Difference
Heritage Kitchen & Bath is a family-owned business in the truest sense. “Everyone we work with shares our commitment to quality,” Maggie says. “We teach each other something new every day, and that shows in the work.” Clients additionally appreciate Heritage’s transparency and communication throughout the entire process-from the first walkthrough to the final paint touch-ups. Every detail, from precise scheduling to product sourcing, is always thoughtfully planned to reduce stress and maximize efficiency.
A Shared Standard of Excellence
The Nicholson I Baker Team has had the pleasure of working with Maggie and Joe on not one but two home transitions and the admiration is mutual. “We loved working with Elle and Christine,” says Maggie. “They have a process that mirrors ours-thoughtful, honest, and tailored to the client. They really listened to what mattered to us. They respected our design background and helped guide us to homes that reflected our style and expectations. They were patient, knowledgeable, and truly felt like partners.” It’s a relationship built on trust and mutual appreciation for craft-and it’s one that continues to grow.
Looking Ahead
As Heritage continues to evolve, Maggie dreams of taking on more historical projects-that balance modern functionality with original character. “There’s something really special about preserving the past while incorporating the conveniences of today,” she says. Whether they’re modernizing a kitchen, designing a spa-like bathroom, or restoring a historic home, Joe and Maggie remain grounded
in what started it all: a deep respect for design, a hands-on approach to quality, and a passion for helping people love where they live.
